Privacy Policy

Hi, I’m Kornelius, the sole developer behind kornelius.org and korAccount. This page explains what data I collect, why, and what you can do about it. I’ll update this page if anything changes. Last updated: March 2026 (originally May 2017).

Website kornelius.org

What I collect

  • Your name and email address if you fill in the contact form or leave a comment
  • A cookie that remembers your name/email for future comments (WordPress default)

I use contact form data only to reply to you — nothing else.

PayPal donations

  • Your name and email address if you fill in the contact form, guestbook or leave a comment
  • A cookie that remembers your name/email for future comments (WordPress default)
  • Facebook page plugin and like button cookies

The site has a PayPal donate button. Clicking it takes you to PayPal’s website, which runs under PayPal’s own privacy policy. I don’t receive any personal data from PayPal beyond what’s needed to process a donation.

Cookies

WordPress sets a cookie if you leave a comment, to remember your name for next time. That’s it — no tracking cookies from me.

External links

I sometimes link to other websites. Once you leave my site I have no control over those, so please check their own privacy policies.

korAccount

All your financial data stays on your device. I never see it, never receive it, and it’s never uploaded anywhere — it lives in files on your computer only.

Crash reports and diagnostics (optional)

If you leave the setting „Anonyme Diagnose- und Feedbackdaten teilen“ enabled (it’s on by default), korAccount sends anonymous diagnostic data to Sentry when something goes wrong or when you navigate between screens.

What gets sent:

  • On a crash: the error type, the stack trace, your app version, and your Windows version. Your Windows username is automatically stripped from all file paths before anything leaves your device.
  • During normal use: which screens you open, aggregate counts (how many accounts, entries, categories you have), your screen resolution, and your UI language.

What is never sent: financial data, account names, transaction amounts, balances, or any file contents.

Sentry processes this data on EU servers in Frankfurt, Germany, and doesn’t sell it. I use it only to find and fix bugs. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in software stability).

To opt out: open korAccount → Einstellungen → uncheck „Anonyme Diagnose- und Feedbackdaten teilen“. Once unchecked, nothing is sent.
