iCloud calendar alarms on iPhone and iPad

Peal turns appointments from your iCloud calendar into real alarms that ring through Silent mode and Focus. Peal needs no extra login: it reads what the Calendar app already shows.

How does the iCloud calendar get into Peal?

Usually it is already there. If your device is signed in with your Apple Account and Calendars is on in the iCloud settings, your iCloud calendars appear under Rules in Peal right after you allow access, each with its own switch.

Which iCloud appointments ring?

You decide:

• Calendars The family calendar stays quiet, the one for doctor's appointments rings.
• Keywords Only appointments with a particular word, such as "doctor" or a name.
• Single appointments With the switch right on the row, for this date or the whole series.
• Quiet hours and lead time When nothing rings, and how many minutes before the start the alarm comes.

Birthdays and public holidays start switched off after setup. You can switch them on under Rules at any time.

Why an alarm instead of the Calendar app's alert?

The Calendar app's alert is a notification. With the device on silent or a Focus running, it arrives quietly. An alarm from Peal comes through and rings full screen until you stop it. More on this in the post Why calendar reminders don't wake you.
